Back Woods Quail Club’s Rick Hemingway reports that online squadding for the 2013 U.S. Open Sporting Clays Championship is now open for view, and all shooters will be in the system by the end of the week. To date, 831 shooters have registered. Shooters should begin receiving email confirmations this week.
The U.S. Open will be held May 12-19 at Back Woods Quail Club on the coast of South Carolina. Registration is at Winscoreonline.com.
If you find that you are registered for the Main Event but not listed for some side events, such as Preliminary or FITASC, it means you are on a waiting list for that event. Hemingway points out that many of the events filled very early.
Hemingway also offered several other updates and pointers for planning:
FITASC: Additional FITASC rotations have been added for Sunday and Monday, May 12-13, as FITASC rotations are completely filled for Tuesday through Sunday. Hemingway says the club is in the process of contacting local shooters who are registered for the original dates but may wish to shoot on the earlier days and open up spots to the waiting list later in the week.
Ammunition: Shooters are advised to pre-order your ammunition to ensure you get the loads you want. Contact the ammo vendor, Joe Garner, at Parks and Son, joe@parksandson.com, 336-399-7728. See product availability and pricing.
Gun Storage: Gun storage will be offered for those wishing to store guns on-site without traveling with guns back and forth to their lodging. The cost will be $5 per gun per night.
Lodging: Rooms and rental properties are still available in the area. Anyone who has not been able to find lodging should contact the club, R1466@sccoast.net, or call 843-546-1466. You may also contact the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce, 843-546-8436, and ask for Lauren or Sally.
Cell Phones: AT&T has a cell tower on the shooting grounds, but any other cell service is very limited at the club. Attendees who use a different service may want to consider acquiring a pre-paid AT&T cell phone for use there.
